Staff Crashed To Death near Holland Tunnel Manhattan

Sad incoming news as staff of a construction company dies after crane buggage hits him unexpectedly. The counterweight was 7.5 tonnes in weight when the mishap happened on 13th April 2019. The victim identified as Gregory Echevarria, 34, was in the process of erecting the crane.

Further, the incident was at a construction site on Varick Street near Broome Street in Manhattan. Apparently, the weight fell and fatally crushed him hence was pronounced dead at the scene, said the police. Again, a fellow worker sustained minor injuries and were taken to nearby health care center.

“I didn’t see it, but I heard he was split in half. You are talking about 15,000-16,000 pounds.You are coming to work, you don’t want to see that, you don’t want to hear that. Everybody is upset right now. I have five cups of coffee already,” said one worker at the construction site. “It’s scary. You really have to pay attention,” another worker said.

As a result, The Department of Buildings is investigating the incident, and has ordered the crane to be dismantled and removed from the site.
